A 16-QAM digital transmission system employs the transmit pulse hTx(t) = V0 rect with V0 = 1 V and symbol period T = 1µs.
a) Evaluate the statistical power of the transmitted signal.
b) Determine the causal receive filter of the optimum receiver and the corresponding sampling phase, assuming a channel with attenuation of 50 dB, constant over all the signal band.
c) Assuming AWGN with PSD  determine the variance per component of the noise at the decision point.
d) Evaluate the symbol error probability.
