Performance appraisals are crucial to the success of both the employer and employees. An organization must document when, where and how training sessions are conducted. This could be done by having the employees’ clock in and out and use a physical sign in and out sheet. Another method that could be used is before and after assessments. To show they successfully completed the training employers could include some sort of quiz or assessment at the conclusion of the training to ensure the trainees learned all the material that was presented. As the leader of the organization I would make it the responsibility of upper management and shift leaders along with myself to observe employees performing their daily duties to ensure they are actively incorporating the training provided into their day-to-day duties and responsibilities.

Performance appraisals are used to identify deficiencies in employees’ on-the-job performance, which leads to recommended training and development; however, there are some legal issues or concerns that can develop if proper training is not provided.
