1. Outline what area of coding and billing you would like to work in for your first job. (If now employed in the field, state your current employment duties and how they may be enhanced with the knowledge you have gained).
State your career goals in coding and billing in the next 5 years; i.e., do you want to specialize in a medical area, work for a doctor’s office, hospital, insurance company, retirement home, work from home, etc.? You may want to access the AHIMA.org and AAPC.com websites for ideas for future career direction regarding coding and billing specialization areas.
