Kellett and Sparks (2012) argued that the resources provided to developing nations for their disaster relief should be distributed to where it will make the most impact on the humanitarian scale (p. 8).One of the reasons for this position is to make the donor nation appear not to be influencing the independence of these countries. However, what is obtainable in reality according to Cohen and Weker (2008) is influenced by the political effect (p. 800). Also, Cohen and Weker (2008) explained that the political effect allows “governments of donor nations to favor disaster spending in regions that are politically aligned with their interests” (p. 800). My opinion on the use of economic status for aid distribution agrees with that of Ford (2010), which posits that poorer nations should be given the highest priority during the allocation (p. 231). The current statistical data that shows how the funds lift approximately ten million people out of poverty annually is additional support for this argument. (162 words).

“ Donors sometimes jettison the legal, ethical and humanitarian criteria guiding emergency response (Sylves, 2015, p.) Humanitarian aid is frequently used as an extension of domestic policy of liberalisation, market economy and poverty reduction programmes (Curtis, 2001, p. 13). In Afghanistan the inflow of humanitarian aids post-Soviet occupation was reduced considerably, though many afghans remain in poverty and required humanitarian support. (Curtis, 2001, p. 8)
