Assignment 5 Coalitions The task
In this assignment you are to discuss the issue of gun control from the perspective of coalitions, power and influence tactics. I’ve chosen an issue that is in the political rather than the organizational realm because it is very difficult to get information about organizational politics. You can get information about the gun control debate from the Internet. Focus on the recent debate sparked by the school shootings and before that the movie theater shooting.
I need the following from you:
· What are the coalitions?
· What are their stated goals?
· What are their real goals if you think these differ from their stated goals?
· What tactics are they using? The format
You may create a table to present your answer but you do not need to do so. You may also provide a more narrative answer but if you do so you must provide the major headings above (the third one only if and when you believe there is a difference between stated and actual goals). Table format
Table format would have the 4 columns below. It is possible for a coalition to have more than one goal focus on the most important one or two. It is possible that multiple tactics are used. You should discuss all the tactics that you identify.
