Please respond with a paragraph to the following question, add citations and references:

One internal method for dissemination would be to present it to the Evidenced-Based Practice (EBP) council at the hospital. Any time there is a change to nursing it must be approved by the EBP council. From there it is debated, approved, and then presented to the rest of the nursing staff throughout the facility. The members of the EBP council include patient care managers, an elected nursing staff member from each unit, and a few members of the administration such as the Director of Nursing Research, Professional Practice & Magnet and the Chief Nursing Officer. They would further break down the specifics and develop the new procedure prior to taking it to the nursing staff. The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) has significantly contributed to the development of nursing research. NINR is a federal agency that allocates funds for clinical and basic research and research training. Funded areas of research are based on social and political factors involving health and illness across the life span (Schmidt & Brown, 2019).

The external method for dissemination would be to bring it to the PLI project council. This committee is made up of people throughout the entire Salem Health organization. They are in charge of approving and implementing a new standardized process to all of the hospitals across the Pacific Northwest region. Communication between the two groups will differ. When bringing this to EBP council it would be a more personalized discussion on how our specific hospital would benefit from this new process and also the financial benefits. When bringing it to the PLI project council this is a more formal discussion on the benefit to the healthcare system as a whole and if this is something that they would like to see consistent throughout the organization. Beginning on a small scale by introducing it to one facility would be best. This allows time to collect data and work out any difficulties before presenting it on a larger scale. It would be apparent if it had decreased the number of opioids used and prescribed for post-operative/trauma recovery for pain management and how well the nursing staff is educated in the use and misuse of opioid medications. This is something the PLI project council would want to know.
