Purpose
The purpose of this discussion is to consider and address several engagement concepts.
Instructions
Reflecting on the concepts of biculturalism and adaptation, educational deficiencies, language barriers, and dual language learners, answer the following questions:
- What do you believe are the primary protective factors used by Latino families to combat negative outcomes (such as substance abuse acculturation and mental illnesses)? Why do you believe this?
- Considering the barriers that are in place, how would you engage the family depicted in the movie Under the Same Moon?
- Why would you engage them in this way?
