Early Childhood Print Rich Classroom Environment

Early Childhood Print Rich Classroom Environment

Print rich classrooms provide children with a wide variety of authentic opportunities to learn about letters, letter sounds, and the concept of print. It is important to create and provide meaningful print for young learners throughout the whole classroom that allow children to read and write for a wide variety of authentic, everyday purposes.

Based on evidence from current references and resources, provide a “Top Ten” list of ways you can create and provide meaningful print opportunities for the Preschool-Kindergarten learner. Your list should include:

  • The title of each activity/center.
  • A brief 2-3 sentence summary/overview/rationale of how each activity center contributes to a print-rich environment.

Please be sure to include a variety of materials and approaches to encourage children with a range of literacy skills.
